Professor Hyoung-Jin Choi, of Inha University, Korea, will be speaking at The University of Western Australia, Perth on Thursday, 20th December 2012. The topic of Professor Choi's talk will be: "Functional Smart Polymeric Complex Systems under External Fields: Materials and Rheology". For further details refer to the attachment (below).
As anounced at the AGM, in 2012 the ASR entered into a formal arrangement with the Australian Institute of Physics (AIP), in which the ASR is now a cognate society of the AIP, entailing benefits to ASR members on AIP events and membership. See Reciprocal Benefits (under Membership) for further information on this arrangement, as well as our longstanding relationship with the Korean Society of Rheology (KSR).
The University of Auckland and MEP Instruments are jointly organising a Rheology Workshop in Auckland on 05–06 December 2012. This workshop will cover the basics of rheological testing methods, including a hands-on session, and will have a particular focus on food and material rheology and data interpretation. In addition to presentations by Dr. Yacine Hemar (University of Auckland) and Dr. Sumanta Raha (MEP Instruments – Anton Paar), Dr. Loic Hilliou, Director of EURHEO (European Masters in Engineering Rheology) has been invited to give lectures on large deformation rheology.
